Vancouver is my hometown so I visit this lounge frequently.

For flights bound to Hong Kong the lounge is pretty full for CX865 (I normally fly out on this flight). Almost all of the seating area is usually full, maybe 70-85% capacity.

There isn't anything special about the lounge. It's way better than the previous lounge that used to be by security. I wouldn't pay $75usd for it though.

Website says "available soon" for Pier J. That can't be good. Admittedly, US$75 is not a small amount for lounge access, but I can imagine people buying in at that price point for The Pier. Is CX attempting to discourage MPO elites from visiting?

EDITED: Access is available from 4 March to 30 June 2019 for Pier J. I'll be transiting this April. I guess I'll see then.... There is the fine print as well. Interesting...

doubt anybody really buys lounge access if they dont have access already.

ie i only see this as someone needing to guest +2 , and using cash instead of using miles

$75 USD is a lot to pay for a lounge at HKG when Plaza Premium is $49 (assuming you're not getting access via credit card or Priority Pass), and it's a pretty nice airport anyway.

I would use the analogy of another Oneworld programme.

Using BA Avios: One-way business 9000 miles + tax, can take me to TPE (Lounge Access included)
Using CX AM: 9000 Asia Miles, only can enter the lounge.

Other airlines can also buy lounge access range from 5500 to 7000 miles at their own base.

We all agree that 75 USD is way too expensive, do you think CX will have a reduction in price in the near future?

its good deal if you have 12hour transit and you are heavy drinker

2 meals + nap in the sleeping zone + lots of alcohol at night would be worth more than 75usd

If they really were to let people buy access, then I rather they keep it expensive, lounges are already overcrowded. But I would prefer if they did not let people buy in the first place.

@fakecd - this is one reason why I think that there will be people who will buy in. Although admittedly, if I had a rather long (>4 hour) layover, I'd head to the city. There are those who would rather not leave the confines of HKG and this is a good deal, especially for a long layover. Oh, and didn't they convert the nap zone into a yoga studio?
@hphreak - totally agree.
