Awesome! I wonder if CX will launch anymore North American routes for 2019 (does that mean the instagram story teaser means nothing anymore?). Hoping for Miami. Airbus said themselves that the 316t version can fit a full load of pax+cargo on HKG-MIA. MIA is traditionally a premium-heavy route with high yields, and it should be strong in cargo demand too.

Here also the article from the local HK leading newspaper (SCMP) detailing the new flight to Seattle:

Congrats to SEA ^

Should be some good feed from AS.

Just wish there was an F on this aircraft... I found the A350 J seat a bit awkward on my redeye HKG-ICN.

Good news that CX fills up the gap of DL serving SEA,

I believe the majority of passengers will be travelled O&D from SEA, and connections to HKG/Asia, as the arrival times to SEA is 9pm, only several flights are available for connections in AS and AA at that time.

Well that didn't take long. DL stops its SEA HKG non stop and CX moves right in. Big mistake on DL's part, with CX and AS partnered up in SEA, huge blow to DL's SEA west coast hub plan.

According to One Mile at a Time, flight timings are:

CX857 Seattle to Hong Kong departing 1:05AM arriving 5:25AM (+1 day) [Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun]
CX858 Hong Kong to Seattle departing 11:55PM arriving 9:00PM [Tue, Thu, Sat, Sun]

It certainly doesn't leave much time for onward connections on the outbound from HKG

It's on the CX webpage...those are definitely the timings.

I don't think anyone seriously thinks the connecting market at SEA is a pull. There will be a few, sure, but the real connections will be happening in Hong Kong. Similarly, the flights are timed perfectly on both ends at HKG for that, particularly with the early morning arrival.

Same sort of timing as BOS, IAD, EWR. CX style.

The odd one out is ORD where connection to the US is done, as said by many FTers before.

I wish it was the other way around in terms of flight dates... This is not ideal for someone wishing to leave Asia on a Friday night and return on a Sunday.

Do we know yet which lounge CX will use in SEA? Likely the dreadful BA lounge, however hoping they might have a better arrangement? CX website doesn't show a lounge option for SEA yet.

Probably they might even use the Club International (or whatever the lounge is called).

First flight done, second flight airborne, anyone fly either?

HKG-SEA inaugural went out ~24 hours ago as CX858, and SEA-HKG is airborne flying the second sector now as CX857. Anyone fly either of them?
