I must admit, it got my hopes up given the previous comments on the new service

It's a 11hr flight to AKL...I guess it's doable.

CX110 was always my first choice but that new catering looked so disappointing! What a great 'enhancement'.

I only fly CX101 and CX138 between HKG and SYD, both departure around midnight.
The new catering doesnt affect me as I always go straight sleeping after takeoff....

(emphasis mine)

given how 'enhancement' is a BA term, I propose that in true CX fashion, we start using the phrase - move beyond'

very interesting how the anticipation for the new service has started to evolve into avoidance

Yes it has. I was on CX 826 and coming home on 829 in early May. Both legs were the new service...I didn't mind it at all. but I am a simple man.

Got the new service on CX315 HKG-MAD.

I ate a bit before I got on, but because there was so much so time to sleep I stayed up for dinner.

Seems to work reasonably well for supper, everything wrapped up an hour after takeoff.

And breakfast seems to be an improvement.

The wife commented the breakfast card is a local restaurant idea. Esp with us writing our own tableseat number.

Following the change in caterer to DO&CO this month the evening LHR-HKG flights have been downgraded to Brunch for 2nd meal in J class. It's truly horrible!!!
That means no more breakfast cards. Only one western option gets pastries for breakfast and the uplift is around 30-50% the pax load only. If you want dessert for the 2nd meal, then you'll have to stick with the veg main option. Chinese option gets you no pastry and no dessert.
The bowl of fruit as a starter had two tiny pieces of melon and two halves of a strawberry - I wonder what the portion would be like in PEY/Y?
Worse still I took the last flight (CX 254 10:20pm) out and it was a 'Supper' service contrary to a full Dinner which has been the case for the past 15 years - no appetizers and limited choice of breads and greens and mains etc. The crew were embarrassed when I pointed out that we have fewer entree choices in J now than PEY

As they now keep encouraging you: Move Beyond!

In this case, maybe to Virgin Upper Class?
