I mean they are supposed to, but I guess a benefit of someone from the ticketing desk calling is that they would be more adapt at calculating taxes correctly (especially for oneworld multi-carrier awards) and fuel surcharge may change from one day to another (and potentially some other taxes too) so it is best to re-calculate everything.

A Pax redeemed a ticket before applying new fuel surcharge deadline, CS agent said it's ok and will apply old fuel surcharge. But the call made at 23:00 and after few hours once the ticket issued, the ticket charging new fuel surcharge.

Separately, I was charged an extra HKD 470 for YR, when there would none if the two legs were booked separately. What gives?!

HUACA-ed and eventually booked the same itinerary as you did! Makes me wonder why the first Mandarin-speaking MPC lady mentioned the restriction whilst the second Cantonese-speaking AM guy had no hesitation at all...

If YR only disappears when you book the two legs separately, the only way to avoid it would be to issue two award tickets.

We all know that CX is manipulating their awards by categorising them into different levels (standard/choice/tailored) in order to lure you to pay more miles
But I didn't realised until today that CX releases those standard awards to BA instead of offering those to their MPO members
Was doing a search of CAN-HKG-ICN on BA on Y/PEY/J they were all available by using AVIOS
On the other hand, when I search for the same route departing on the same day
CX showed nothing until I push the button to Economy Tailored
The same happened on CX to all Y/PEY/J standard awards
