I see something exactly opposite. Plenty of Y awards on BA but no standard Y on CX, such as 10th July HKG-KIX. Absolutely wide open on all 6 flights on BA but nothing on CX

I had a discussion with a contact at CX two days ago. There is an intentional effort to provide more inventory to Asia Miles / MPC ("superior to partners, which we know has been a nagging issue for years"), while simultaneously making Asia Miles more price competitive on CX metal. So while I don't think the intention is to wipe out partner inventory, at least there is an effort to make Asia Miles have obviously superior inventory.
However, this person is also at the end of a two year rotation so....
Apparently there was fraud /mileage broking going on with BA shorthaul tickets on CX metal. CX seems quite aware of the arbitrage going on at least regards to BA.

Remember that BA places their own restrictions on CX inventory for flights departing in the next 10 days. This is to reduce fraudulent redemptions. In the past you can get redemptions for close-in departures by contacting BA directly.

But I am pretty sure my observation is not caused by this restriction as there are still 1-2 J seats shown on BA on the same day.
Plus: some other short haul destinations such as TPE seem to be unaffected at the moment.

why is there so much animosity towards restricting partner J /F awards? i remember everyone pracically complained about lack of access for MPC members as partner grabs them... mow everyone complains post enhancement...
i selfom praise CX nor speak fondly of them but i can accept this devaluation if it means i can redeem on flights i want when i want at short notice

What really annoys me is that availability on CX/KA metal in partners programme does not necessarily translate to ‘Standard’ award availability in Asiamiles. Instead, it translate to ‘Tailored’ award availability only!!! I feel that my loyalty is betrayed.
