Getting F class seat when selling as J on CX/KA

On my last PEN-HKG flight sold as J, the computer seat selection wasn't able to pull up the F cabin but I was able to pick 1A on the mobile app. I'm a lowly SL and the other passengers in F were elderly Hong Kong men whom the ISM greeted personally so I assume should be at least GO or above.
That said, the KA F seats are showing their age. If KA intend to keep their F in their few select routes, they need to refresh it. Else these may be the last KA F before they're extinct following their next D checks.
