My guess is that it would include the perennial problems with the bathroom fittings.. Will be a shame to have it out of action and I hope the indicated shut-down time won't be exceeded...

Yes from my conversation with the town office people before they need to open the ceiling to fix the air-conditioning system so hopefully it would be done during that time, plus i think there are some stuff they also need to repair.

I spoke to the lounge staff a few weeks ago, they said it was 3 weeks so hopefully they finish it by then.

Although I've seen signs in the terminal generally about air conditioning, so I think it's a whole terminal issue? Maybe they need to give access to the airport to get it fixed.

I couldn't remember exactly what the issue is, but from my vague recollections from my discussion before, CX will install their own a/c units for the lounge.

They probably gave up on the airport fixing the problem.

They better re-open the lounge before the exodus of travellers during Holy Week.

The lounge was a lot cooler than the terminal proper when I was there last month. It's crazy that MNL can't get their act together on this issue. From what I can tell, it's been going on for months now.

The airport was mothballed for a long time, my guess is the a/c was damaged after left unused for so long. Getting it replaced and going though the bureaucracy will just take too long.

Thanks for the heads up. I really like the new lounge (although the taps in the bathroom are very problematic) and I don't like the other lounge much at all. Hope its fixed in time. The aircon is a whole of airport problem - as someone noted above, the terminal was never finished by the contractor - they hit a Force Majeure event and stood down, then spent some 8 years or so in disputes with the Government while the terminal stood empty and near complete. So it's always been a bit of a work-in-progress! But compared to Terminal 1 - paradise.
