Cathay Economy

Hi All,

I've done 3 journeys on Cathay so am a real novice. I flew LHR-HKG-LHR in 2003 in Y on a 747-400, HKG-SGN on an A330 in Y in 2006 and ORD-HKG-BKK return on a 777 and A330/A350 in F and J last May.

I am thinking of trying Cathay ex US to BKK in Y for thanksgiving. My reasoning is that I can book an exit seat for free, I think I get the F lounges in HKG and all the baggage allowances etc. The thing is I read somewhere that Cathay are going 3-4-3 on the 777 which means I wont use them. Does anyone have a timetable or have any ideas when this is being introduced please?

What makes you think you can access the F lounges? If you're BA Silver then that's equivalent to Sapphire, which gives you access to J lounges.

I'm flying BA AMS-LHR-BKK-LHR in J in May which will be enough to tip me over to Gold.

The 3-4-3 configuration will gradually begin with regional 777s later this year so long-haul flights are safe...for now.

All booked. I reserved 59C on the ORD-HKG-ORD sectors and 60C on the A330. Good choices? I looked at the seat threads and there are many, many opinions there.

Does A330 have that range for ORD->HKG->ORD? Perhaps a A350, maybe.

I think the OP means 77W on the ORD-HKG sector and 333 on the HKG-BKK......

Yes I did thanks (although I could have been clearer). I was looking on the web and the max rage for a 77W is 14,500KM fully loaded and ORD-HKG is 12,500KM so, I guess depending on environmental conditions, we could be getting on for maximum endurance. Are CX807 and 806 known for being particularly busy flights down the back? I've been on them once but it was a redemption flight in F.
