Comments:
As my first ever flights on Cathay, I found the catering thoroughly underwhelming, but acceptable. However, kudos to the (very friendly) crew for happily serving me a full breakfast only shortly before the start of descent - you sure wouldn't get *that* on SQ. Wine list only just OK; the Albarino was pleasant, the Piper Heidsieck seemed overly acidic. No pre-dinner drink service either, which is poor. I was genuinely shocked that a 1st tier airline chose not to serve a single malt whisky in a long haul premium cabin (choices were Chivas Regal 12yo, Johnnie Walker Gold Reserve, Jack Daniels and Canadian Club) and the cognac was cheap too. In my experience, Asian airlines usually place a high priority on their brown spirits (eg Asiana served Camus XO Cognac and Chivas 18yo even in shorthaul biz).
