Yes, you need to accumulate $8000 of eligible transactions, where eligible transaction means a single transaction of $500 or more. Otherwise no extra bonus under this offer.

Yep. Eating a lot more on my 3% DBS Eminent than HSBC's $500 promos.

Or use HSBC VS and you get 3.6% for all amounts for F&B, and it only goes up as you hit $500 per transaction.

Of course, unless your HKD 100k quota is already finished, which it commonly is at year-end.

I have the Cathay AMEX Elite & Citi Premiermiles, and need to find the quickest way to earn 60,000 AM in the next few months for a oneworld multi-carrier award. Are there any decent sign up bonuses apart from the SCB Asia Miles Mastercard? I am seeing a 40,000 bonus there - which really I'd get 15k out of since all my spend will be overseas, and anything over the first 7500HKD is only 1AM every 4HKD which is the same as the AMEX and Citi card anyway. I pondered too long over purchasing miles during Citi's promo, so missed out on that. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are HSBC Rewards Cash strictly tied to the primary cardholder, or can a supplementary card holder redeem RC for miles into their own AM account?

Supp can utilise RC on his or her supp cards as well as his or her principal cards for AM redemption.

Supp cannot access his or her principal's RC for redemption

So if the supplementary card holder doesn't hold any principal cards with HSBC, they can still utilize the RC that have been accumulated on the supplementary card?

Sorry, basic question - what if I get a HSBC CUP card alongside my existing HSBC VS? How does that affect my RHR category / 100k quota? Is it shared or is it counted as new, and are RC's interusable?

This is what CS wrote:

Please be informed that our O! ePay Direct Debit Authorization (DDA) has been temporarily suspended following Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s request.

Nonetheless, customers may register the Addressing Service under Faster Payment System (FPS) of other banks, and transfer fund from their O! ePay account to bank account via their phone number. This service is applicable to O! ePay Plus/Pro only.

Every financial institution revoked electronic DDA shortly after rollout.

The authentication required was flawed - to authorise a eDDA on your bank account, all you needed was a HKID and bank statement upload. Which fraudsters easily got from placing false job ads, then proceeded to drain the job seekers' accounts through opening Alipay accounts validated using throwaway SIMs.

The solution is to require a 2FA from the account holder for authorising a eDDA. The FIs and HKMA really haven't thought things through.
