Thinking of getting a new card or two for next year to increase earnings across some categories:

- Citi Rewards ($3 / mile in supermarkets) -- does Citi strictly enforce the welcome offer only being available to new primary card holders? If yes my wife will have to apply for this and I'll put her card in my Apple Pay wallet, since supplementary cards are a ridiculous $900 each (can this be waived?)

- CCB Eye ($3 / miles online and payWave) -- the $75k annual limit isn't great, but could use Citi Rewards for supermarkets and then CCB Eye for all other payWave transactions, and also online overseas once I've hit the $200k annual overseas limit on HSBC Visa Sig (x2). Pretty much all my online transactions are overseas and not in HK. Does Apple Pay count as payWave at CCB? Or do you need to pay with the physical card?

Btw, did anyone notice Citi PremierMiles has a new card design? Similar to that of Citi Prestige in the US. Could this be part of an overhaul to Citi's card line-up that may or may not happen from 1st December when the Prestige card goes from 2,500 to 3,800 HKD annual fee?

Received new card:

1. BEWARE Can't sign the back. Tried my usual biro, rollerball, then my DVD marker in successive order. Only my DVD marker eventually worked but now my signature is seriously smudged to the extent I'm thinking of replacing it again.

1a. I believe I can rub my signature from the signature strip with isopropyl alcohol.

2. No CS number (2860 0360) in the back (only "citibank.com.hk")

My original card is in great condition as I barely use it, although thinking of replacing it for the novelty of the new design. The signature issue is definitely a bit concerning though.

What do you use your PremierMiles card for? Overseas spend once you've hit the spend limit on HSBC Visa Sig (assuming you're opted in for the Overseas category)?

Btw, looks like they haven't replaced the Apple Pay image of the card to the new design as yet.

My Premiermiles - I've been shown the signature strip of another new design Premiermiles card that can be properly signed with a biro. I'll mark this card as bad batch and request a replacement.

Use - not much really. Online promos.

Probably. You can check the Citibank Taiwan website for a preview of what the updated Prestige card will presumably look like.

CITI premiermiles welcome offer

I just checked citibank website that they have welcome offer $4=1AM for first 6months.
Does anyone know whether this offer apply to E-wallet top up ( Payme, Wechat, and Alipay) and octopus AAVS?

I don't see why not since I use my Citi cards to MS on these platforms (barring any restrictions on the merchant side).

Interesting that Prestige is a Visa Infinite in Taiwan. Is that how they'll be justifying the annual fee increase to $3,800?

Unlikely they'll be changing to Visa in HK because the loungekey that will be provided (Priority Pass replacement) is provided by MasterCard.

Good point. I'm interested to see how they'll be justifying the fee increase to near Amex Plat Charge levels while effectively downgrading the lounge benefit (LoungeKey vs Priority Pass).

The 4th Night Free benefit - arguably the best benefit of the card - has also been cut to a maximum of two uses per year in the US. Let's see if they keep that intact in HK.

A wholesale transition from Mastercard to Visa for an existing population of cardholders is unlikely because it will mean everyone's card numbers will have to change from 5524 1500 to 4028 56xx.
