AM no avail when partners see it

So a weird situation today 2 Dec 17 departure

HKG-LHR CX 251

AM website / call centre not showing any availability in J
QF/BA Call Centre see 3

I saw availability on AM this morning - but it seems to have been pulled from AM, but not from partners

Perhaps the QF/BA call centre is not updating in real time, and there was a "hold" on those seats by a DM member, who then confirmed those seats this morning?

Even if true, I'd be real desperate to redeem CX HKG-LHR J with Avios/QF points instead of AM!

Well its 90k Avios, 92k QF vz 70k AM (obviously cheaper if you have the round trip discount). And yeah normally better to redeem AM for a single adult.

But if you redeem an infant, you get it at 10% of avios (or QF free), so it does work out comparing to buying an infant fare with an AM redemption ticket (esp ex HKG where only priced off full J it seems).

In the above case though was moot - AM could not redeem HKG - LHR which would have been more convenient.

Think a fairer comparison will be 90k Avios/92k QF and 60K AM being half of a R/T. HKG-LHR isn't a route where I'd easily find a one-way LCC to take me back (c.f. KIX/HND/NRT/SIN/BKK)

If this becomes more widespread there'd be a riot here about favouring partners over own "loyal" members etc. etc. However I've never had it happen to me IMOE but I'll carry out secondary checks with ba.com to confirm my AM results.

I just had a search today (involves married segments on redemption seats https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cath...s-falling.html). The BA search did not remove the "marriage".
