I got my GO renewed with about 485 CP (I believe) without my asking. I think that was due to either (a) I had close to 1000 CP last year, or (b) I mostly flew paid business (just subclass I though) recently.

He did get upgraded to GO with 450CP. He was DM the year before. (I later realized that he is the OP and should have made the connection. I am such a noob).

By the way, I am at 450 CP right now. 2 months left. I wonder if I will be upgraded to Gold. (I am silver.)

I don't know, the cs guy said their marketing team will review it and sometimes offer a complimentary tier even there are short of club points, he told me to log in to my account after 12:00 tonight and see how my account status is, it is either they renew my diamond membership and reset the club points to zero, or my membership expire date change to 30/06, and my membership will go back to gold until I gain 40 more club points.

Nice! Were you also Diamond before renewal? I think like Ausriver said, you were too close to NOT to be renewed.

Would be nice to know. A friend got upgraded to Gold (was silver the year before) just short by about 30-40 points.

Another data point: I was upgraded to DM from GO at 1160 points. I was due to be DM months before my GO renewal was up anyway, so that was definitely a courtesy upgrade for me from CX (I have a lot of flights coming up in the next 6 months).

I just crossed 600 points (610 be precise) and my membership year's ending August.... With around 300 points max to book these three months I decided to keep them all for the new membership year... Let's see if they will renew my DM in such case

Let us know how it goes! I'm in a similar boat, I anticipate ending my year in January with 900-1000 points. Last year, I kinda stole DM, I was GO and my year was ending in November and I was sitting at 985 points. I called and asked for an extension and they gave me 3 months until the end of February to get 215 points. At the end of November, I was back to zero as GO, they said to call when I had the points and I would get upgraded to DM. Luckily I had some plans for travel in December and January and was able to get the points required. So I ended up as DM by earning all 1200 points, just not all in one year.

This year, I'll probably end up the same as my travel pattern is pretty consistent, PEY R class tickets, 6-7 round trips a year which nets around 900 or 1050 points. Last year I had 2 biz class tickets I bought with the black friday sale, so that bumped my CP up a little. At the end of my year, I have a choice, roll the dice and see if they bump keep me at DM with a significant shortfall or ask for another extension.
