Checking in one bag at Kowloon and another at airport

Checking in one bag at Kowloon and another at airport
I assume this is OK and that the question has probably already been asked so apologies in advance if it's obvious.
I have a couple of days in Hong Kong so I will be leaving one bag in left luggage and taking another with me. Will I be able to check in one bag the day before departure (T-18 hours) at Kowloon and then the other at the airport later on?
An added complexity is I have a connecting domestic leg on JAL booked separately but I assume the through check-in is fine in Kowloon as much as it is for normal airport check in?
