Me with Citi Prestige as of 27/6 - no.

Bizarre, it works with my HSBC Visa Signature, but not my Citi Prestige. Is there any way to bypass the 3D Secure verification for certain merchants?

EDIT: Spoke to Citi and they can't see the declines or any traces of the transaction on their side. Meanwhile my Citi PremierMiles works, which rules out any potential errors in first name/last name input.

This is a selected customer extension of the HSBC Online/Overseas 5X offer. Selected cardholders can get either

- 5X extra on overseas/dining/online transactions https://www.personal.hsbc.com.hk/1/2...mer-promotion1

or

- 8X extra on overseas/dining/online https://www.personal.hsbc.com.hk/1/2...mmer-promotion

Eligibility and the offer you are eligible for can be confirmed by calling 8228 2338. If you hear "As our selected customer, you are welcome to register for the red hot online and overseas spending reward and the exclusive spending rewards simultaneously through this hotline..." then you are eligible.

Then you have to register using the links above.

You will have spending target being being eligible for extra 5X/8X. The spending qualifying for the extra 5X/8X can be included in meeting the target.
"Red Hot Flash Specials" (最紅熱捧限定) spending are excluded - these include:
- HKExpress
Code:

https://www.facebook.com/MeetHK/posts/1570660056308157
- Hutchgo https://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/show/22138
- Adidas https://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/show/21889

But Mannings and Broadway are not excluded in my view (i.e. included - you can include the $6,000 and $10,000 spending from Mannings and Broadway in meeting your exclusive target)
HSBC Cantonese CS disagrees
I'm sending a written query in

Cap of 200RC ($10,000 spend for 5X/$6,250 for 8X) for the promotion

How many coupons in a book for Manning and Broadway?
Is there a limit on per transaction too on Android Pay (I'm a dinosaur - don't have Android pay on my phone!)

percy, so just to be clear, if I call in the hotline number you mentioned (which is the same hotline as the one I believe for the Online/Overseas 5X), and it tells me I have already registered for this program (by which I take to mean the Online/Overseas 5X), does that mean I am not targeted for the Exclusive Spending Rewards for Jul-Aug (ie., the extra 5X or 8X on overseas/dining/online)?

If so, then I guess I am not targeted... :(

Mannings: 20 coupons (of $50 or $100 amount)
Broadway: they don't have books. They sell $100/$500/$1,000 coupons one by one. They can invoice tens of coupons in one go fortunately.

None that I'm aware of - certainly Broadway had no issues charging me $12,000 in one go last time.

Wow I am really new to HSBC and good thing I read the T&C carefully.!

So I was going to churn generate some manufactured spend on both my VS and Premier cards, but then I realised that would be useless (and a waste of money) as RC are calculated by HKID and not credit card accounts! The right strategy then would be to churn MS my VS and my supplementary VS too!

So just confirming that my understanding is correct in that HSBC works by HKID and not credit card account?
(i) I can have multiple credit cards with them, but all spending gets summed up when working out the cap?
(ii) my supplementary (additional) card holders have their own quota balance?

"So just confirming that my understanding is correct in that HSBC works by HKID and not credit card account?" Yes
(i) Yes
(ii) Yes. So it's a HKID game

P.S. Churn means to cut and then reapply later. Why are you doing that to your Premier, esp with the 35% bonus promo now on?

Not targeted. SOL.

Ah a terminology issue. I should have said "manufactured spend"

hubestar Jul 1, 2017 4:02 pm

Percy, what does the 5X/8X RC translate to in terms of $/AM including the normal RC we get when we spend? I am always confused by the HSBC conversion...

hubestar Jul 1, 2017 4:13 pm

Follow-up. Normal RC earn rate is $250 for 1RC. Extra 8X means we get 9RC for $250, so $2.78/AM?

percysmith Jul 1, 2017 7:30 pm

5X and 8X: $4.16/AM and $2.78/AM respectively

hubestar Jul 1, 2017 8:42 pm

Thank you, Percy!

May I ask what others are using for PayMe? I'm using Citi Prestige at the moment, but based on the hongkongcard post, seems like I should first max out HK$25K of CCB Eye on this (being the gap between the quota for extra 2x on Overseas/Travel and quota for extra 4x on Online/Paywave), since that would net me HK$3/AM.

I would miss out on the HK$3/AM on any other Online/PayWave spend, but the opportunity cost lost there would not be as high, since BEA FlyerWorld is HK$5/AM and Citi Prestige is HK$6/AM (+AR bonus) for PayMe.

Am I missing anything here?

percysmith Jul 2, 2017 1:28 am

Well I generally use my 75,000 annual quota in conjunction with 939, and current and future 939 will exclude electronic wallet.

That leaves me with only 11,000 online quota for Payme.

So my paymes are currently going into Prestige
