Calf613 I wrestled with same dilemma but decided to empty out my Citi balance this time. I don't think I see a case of the non-AM/Avios programs.

You can do Octopus AAVS online for SCB

That's really helpful. Thanks Chuke28 and Percy!^

I hesitate a bit though to give up the flexibility...and also the fact that I never credit anything to my BA account other than Avios earned through spend. Are there any reasons people here can think of not to transfer the balance of my Citi points? I value flexibility, but 30% seems like as good an offer as any that will come along...
I would not cut it. I did think about cutting it, but this Avios promo is a game changer.

Think about it, assuming the BA Avios promo comes by fairly regularly, you are essentially getting 26k Avios for a US$300 annual fee. Assuming 1c=1avios rule of thumb valuation, I am sure you can find another US$40 of value for the card... somewhere...

Again, all assuming this Avios promo comes around once a year.

Thanks, both. @percysmith, I think I will do the same in that case. Particularly since I think my personal valuation of AM/Avios is probably on the high end of people posting on this board

@ermen, sorry I should have been more clear in my original post. I think you are referring to Citi Prestige, not PremierMiles? I have both - I'm only considering cutting the Citi PM card for now, not Prestige. Though I did consider that as well and ultimately reached the same conclusion as you (though I didn't even think about the Avios bonus program, which you make a good point does tip the scales even more in favor of keeping the card)

Separately, I just read the fine print for Citi welcome T&C (https://www.citibank.com.hk/english/...ConditionsCCCM). I think this means that I would need to cut all my Citi cards in order to be eligible for Citi welcome offers. Thoughts from people on whether this might be worth it in the long run?

I recall that HSBC had a couple of similar Avios bonuses last summer - I think one 30% and one 50%? Any idea if we might see another soon? Not sure what to do with my RC at the moment.

If you're going for Prestige, no, because when you take it up again your welcome gift is 5,000 miles (thanks sxc) less than the renewal gift

Isn't it 5,000 miles less? 20,000 miles equivalent for renewal, 15,000 for welcome.

Also if you have no other Citi products you'll probably lose the relationship bonus.

Correct. I was just talking to a correspondent about how we seem to be fixated about old offers. Corrected.

Average, you're looking at $0.75/mile

You get to time when it starts

But unlike US it's a 24-month (for 1) churn cycle (not 24 for 5). Besides HSBC and Amex I've mostly given up on churning.

Only applicable for banking products actually. I looked into this previously and even though I opened another Citi credit card prior to my Prestige, the annual relationship bonus only starts counting from date of my Prestige card opening since I never had a bank account with them

Using HSBC for HK$ transactions billed overseas

Just a quick follow up: So does this mean that as long as your 6X is set to overseas, it's safe to use HSBC for iTunes and Paypal transactions billed in HK$? (for Paypal, I mean those genuinely in HK$, not their DCC scam). If so, I might switch spending on them away from CCB. Pretty sure the same would apply to iHerb and Fishpond as well (judging from my past CC statements)? Or is there a risk some of these (Paypal, in particular) might be billed out of HK instead, leaving you stuck with a lousy Reward Cash earning rate?

And I thought you got $2.78/AM if you used HSBC Visa Sig in your 6X category?
