Hi everyone - emergency question. I was checking up on my HSBC VS RC balance with CS and realized that I was not registered for the "Welcome Offer" for existing customers. The reason she gave me is that I did not apply through the online channel (which I thought I did, but because of my Premier RM eff-up, seems like I in fact did not). However, I also do not recall the HSBC VS Welcome offer (which expired on May 21) only being applicable to the online offer, though I can't verify that now since they have since updated the Welcome offer. I note that the new offer does not say online only...

Does anyone have a record of the May 21 expired HSBC VS welcome offer that they can share? CS insists that it is Online only, but I really thought that was not the case...please let me know. Thank you

Sorry, SOL

I didn't realise this but I don't hand in my card applications generally.

Sigh...I had just assumed my application was handled online as well...

Wiki should probably be updated with the new offer though. HK$6K spend for 400 RC (300 RC if existing CC customer) + 100 RC for online application (which everyone should normally do...)

OT: Samsung Pay officially launches in HK

http://www.scmp.com/business/banking...live-hong-kong

If you have a Samsung phone, look out for some rebate offers.

Banks include BOC, Citi, Dah Sing, DBS and SCB (as well as Amex).

Apart from Citi all the other banks offer other forms of contactless (such as Apple Pay or Android Pay).

(Edit 26 May) Well at long last Citi is getting into contactless https://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumSE/show/22046 . However my S5 has been scoped out of Samsung Pay (S6 minimum)

normal S6 won't even support it, you need a S6 edge+.

Citi have just told me they are starting to introduce Visa Paywave in batches to existing card holders. You can contact them on their phone banking number to arrange this. Shame I use their MC Prestige card, but at least a good start.

Amex CX Elite:
Your annual Card fee of HK$1,800 will be waived for the following year simply by spending HK$150,000 annually
Does this mean I need to spend $150k my first year to get the first year fee waived, or the second year fee waived?

I thought Citi is switching everyone to MC.

Second.

First year AF is waived with no string attached.

No they just put out another Visa-only promo (promo component cash rebate only so I didn't stick it in the credit card thread) https://forum.hongkongcard.com/forumSE/show/21979

Which is great, but I've looked at length and failed to find exactly what these promised up to $1200 of vouchers are actually vouchers for! There's no option to choose, say, PnS or Wellcome when registering. Anyone know what they are?
(Sorry to be OT, but HKCard doesn't really work in English)

Christep, someone called and found out they're Wellcome.
