Anyway, offer only good for this month and next month only.
In that case, would it be fair to say cards with flat rebate rates with no maximum ceiling like the SCB Executive Platinum (2% cash rebate) or the Fubon Plat sound decent (I drop USD 30,000 or so a year in Japan) would be the best overall bet?

If you're masochist enough, consider unionpay:

JPY exchange rates for 2 Sep 16

Visa: 0.076223 HKD/JPY
--> 0.07771 after fee

Mastercard: 13.287777 JPY/HKD
--> 0.07526 HKD/JPY
--> 0.07673 after fee

Unionpay: 0.75700

JCB: "13.31" JPY/HKD
--> 0.07513
--> 0.07660 after fee

https://usa.visa.com/support/consume...alculator.html
https://www.mastercard.com/global/cu...ion/index.html
http://www.unionpayintl.com/MainServ...exchangeRateEn
http://www.jcb.jp/rate/jpy.html

---

So Unionpay has 1.36% better rates than MC, which in turn is better than Visa

ICBC Asia is offering 3X on their Unionpays for overseas spend this year, also uncapped. 1X is 0.5% cash rebate so 3X is 1.5%.

So your net benefit for carding ICBC Unionpay over SCB MC is 1.36% + 1.5 - 2% i.e. net 1.86% better

Looks like the Amex CX Elite offer in the Wiki has expired. Or is there a new link?

Is that targetted or open to anyone? I've been looking for how to get decent rewards on my monthly FCC (club) bill so this looks like a good one. From the T&Cs I see
If the Basic Cardmember cancels the American Express Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Card within 12 months of Card issuance, American Express International, Inc. reserves the right to debit the original price of these Welcome Offers.
Does that mean you're forced to pay $1800 for the first renewal? Or can I use it for 3 months to get the bonus, put it away for 9 months and then cancel at 12 months avoiding any clawback of the offer and any fee?

As long as you hit 150k spend in the first twelve months you shall get the AF waived, and no clawing back of miles.

(There's some dispute over whether it's necessary to be this cautious but) best idea is to call 2277 3333 and say your wife/colleague/somebody received this code and has no interest to apply but you do, can they email a CXRSVP312 form to you. They will email you a form with the CXRSVP312 offer on its face. Apply on that form (that's what I did with CXRSVP212 and I received 50K AM in full).

I've had the AMEX CX Elite card for just over a year. Planning to cancel it since all of my spend goes to HSBC and SC now. Although the non-elite version of the AMEX CX has a pretty low sign-up offer, is it practical to alternate between elite and non-elite for the bonuses?

Non-elite offer is 3,000AM for $3,000 spend + 1,000AM for online app

Terms say you have to hold it for 12 months, but I don't see any terms about reapplying after cancelling.

Or can I cancel my current Elite CX card and reapply with the CXRSVP312 offer?

Is the Dah Sing BA Avios card churnable?

Slightly OT (but closely related): Is the Dah Sing BA Avios card churnable? The T and C in English don't seem 100% clear (and I know Dah Sing ANA card specifically excludes getting a 2nd bonus, however long you wait. What with all the HSBC Avios transfer bonuses, I hardly use this card any more. But not much point cancelling if its not churnable for a 2nd bonus? (I see there's another bonus on right now.)

No - the T&C for the welcome offer on this page say that you can't have any dah sing card in the past 12 months. And can only get the welcome offer once.

http://dahsing.com/html/en/credit_ca...rway_card.html
  1. Welcome Offer is only applicable to new Principal Card applicant (i.e. not holding any Principal Card or Supplementary Card of any card type issued by Dah Sing Bank ("the Bank") in the past 12 months) who successfully applied for Dah Sing British Airways Platinum Card within the Promotion Period. Each Principal Card applicant can only apply for one Dah Sing British Airways Platinum Card and is entitled to the Welcome Offer once only.

Sticking my neck out but I think this refers to promo period only. So yes, churnable. Otherwise you can't even apply for another BA card in 12 months.

Yes I saw that and realise that you have to wait 12 months after cancelling before applying again (which is pretty par for the course for churning).

But the wording for the Dah Sing BA card is different from the T and C for the Dah Sing ANA card which is far more explicit on this matter: Welcome Bonus Miles is not applicable to cardholders who had ever held ANA Card HK Visa Platinum and have ever enjoyed welcome miles.

So just wondering if anyone on this forum has ever churned the BA card and succeeded in getting the bonus a second time round?
