That leads me into thinking to buy cash vouchers and sell it at a lost (at .95) as seen on hongkongcard.com to earn miles and keep the card, would that justify the lost? Or alternatively, would getting one of those cashback cards more value for money?
CX Elite needs 150k to exempt annual fee
150k x 5% = $7,500 <-- not a great deal

I said first year exempt, and subsidiary cardholders (authorised users) also enjoy Plaza Premium lounge benefits (not Priority Pass).
Does your spouse have income or deposits (I have a colleague who's having her mother apply in lieu of a spouse)?

Can

Avios can redeem CX/KA as well
Otherwise they won't be so popular here

New Amex CX RSVP code

Email received today from Cathay.

Apply for the American Express® Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Card to enjoy up to 79,000 miles welcome offer and receive an exclusive HKD6=3 miles* offer on Cathay Pacific flight bookings on or before 30 November 2017.
www.americanexpress.com/hk/en/campaigns/rsvp/cxoffer/en/CXRSVP312.html

Expires 30 November 2017.

Edit...
4,000 AM early bird bonus
5,000 AM for HKD5,000 spend in 3-mths
40,000 AM for local spend in 3-mths (HKD5 = 1 AM) [HKD200,000 spend]
30,000 AM for overseas spend in 3-mths (HKD3 = 1 AM) [HKD90,000 spend]

As percysmith indicates below, the wiki CXRSVP212 code is better (unless you spend less than HKD14k, with HKD9k overseas ).
2,000 AM early bird bonus
3,000 AM for 2 supplementary cards
50,000 AM for local spend in 3-mths (HKD2 = 1 AM) [HKD100,000 spend]
50,000 AM overseas spend in 3-mths (HKD2 = 1 AM) [HKD100,000 spend]

Do not use. Use CXRSVP212 in the wiki instead. I checked with Amex sales - you do not have to be directly sent the code to use it (the sales is sending a form to me for onward distribution with it)

Any income/net asset requirements to the Amex Plat?

And anyone here use the benefits/is it worth the 7k annual fee/application?

based on your calculation this is worth 1800 hkd alone to me... but if one never stay in these upscale hotel or travel, obviously platinum aint worth it even for asiamiles.

For SCB Asiamiles mastercard, the welcome offer of up to 100,000 asia miles says that eligible transactions should be retail or online spending. Does this include dining, paywave, and payme?

For the SCB 100k Asia Miles welcome offer (now changed to 30k Asia Miles), we hit the $177,500 within the first statement cycle. I just checked the statement and only 42k Asia Miles are credited to the account this month -- will the 'bonus portion' (however much that may be -- I'm not sure how they segment the miles) be credited at a later stage or in the next statement? I can't find the T&Cs for the previous welcome offer so can't double-check.

Most of the spend was overseas so the ~42k miles seem to be at the 'standard' HKD4 = 1 Asia Mile overseas earn rate.

Yes, be patient. I think the T&C said five months from card opening or something. Mine took several cycles to post also. It's normal, don't worry.
