And if you need to print your bp (even possible on the one ticket, as CX can't print AS boarding passes even if you are flying on an AS-issued ticket!), you can do OLCI on the AS (or whoever) web site at a CX lounge in HKG, as they have printers.

as said by many others, one can drop the bags at the customs area, without having to lug the bags around the terminals.
and if you dont need a printed bp, you dont have to go to the checkin area for more queues again!

Still can be huge savings versus having to drag your bag to another terminal and then go through the check-in process again. If you just drop your bag outside customs, you can do a sharp right into the TSA there and never go outside.

CX checked my bag through. But it took about 20 mins at the F Desk in HKG because they couldn’t figure out if I needed to pay a bag fee. After I explained I’m a cardholder & I get a free checked bag within the US they called AA in HK to clarify the policy because their system said I needed to pay but they couldn’t help them. They were very apologetic, said they’d never heard of this policy (guess they don’t get many Cathay F to AA economy fliers) and after about 20 mins of getting no where said they would finish taking care of it & I was good to go. They were very polite through the whole thing, bag got to RNO just fine. Was happy I didn’t have to lug it around LAX.

Interline baggage check in on separate tickets
I am flying DAD-HKG-JFK on CX Business; I have a connecting flight (separate ticket) for JFK-CLT on AA. Is CX likely to check my bag through from DAD to CLT? I am an Oneworld Emerald member if it makes a difference.

Hi.
Yes they will.
You will need to pick your baggage up at jfk as it is the first point of entry in the us and drop it of after customs at the drop off point

I need to get from CRK to KUL, and was thinking of a paid KA flight to HKG, and then an MH flight which I can book through BA with Avios (appears to be plenty of reward availability including the A330 slot).
Assuming KA will interline my bags onto the MH service, is 90 minutes betweeen flights adequate? If I miss the MH flight, what will happen to my bags?

It seems CX has removed this webpage: https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...e-tickets.html
Can anyone confirm they're still doing check-through for separate tickets?

Hi,
Cathay did it for me at HND last week ( HND-HKG-LHR on Cathay to BA for LHR-EDI). The check in agent did have to go and check at another desk ( taking up 2 mins ) but it was done with no problems ( the luggage tags were attached to a special leaflet saying along the lines of 'bags are tagged through but on separate tickets and in case of a delay cathay may not be responsible to get you to your final destination ( contact your next carrier) and was advised to show the luggage tags to BA staff at LHR).
I did that and the BA lounge staff confirmed that the bags were enroute to my BA flight and all the bags came off ok at EDI.
Regards

Transfer baggage
Your baggage will be through-checked to your final destination if you are holding connecting itineraries booked on a single ticket or if you are connecting between flights operated by Cathay Pacific Group.
As a courtesy, Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon will also through-check your bags to your final destination if you are travelling on separate tickets involving connections with our airline partners provided that your journey begins with Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon.
Please note however that through-check may not be possible if your travel begins with an airline that does not provide this service.

Hkg-jfk them jfk to gye on latam
At the first class desk, they said the flight on latam is the next day, so cannot interline and check through luggage.
I find it abit funny cos the flight time is 0010. And if a cathay flight lands at 8pm, even though its 4 hours away, its considered the next day and thus, cannot interline?
I thought so far, with many airlines, the stand is 23 hours 59 mins? So quite disappointed. CX F to Latam J, both paid, and not on award.
So CX to Latam is possible. But that must be within the same calendar day.

DFW and MIA are (were?) exceptions, but JFK definitely needs pick up and recheck.
