As far as I know, yes.

You book, and pay for the four nights. So as far as the hotel is concerned, you've booked and paid for four nights. Citi will refund you separately for your last night's stay around a month after your stay.

Note though, the benefit is rumoured to be changing. Previously the refund was inclusive of all taxes and fees. I think the US benefit will change to exclude taxes and fees. I suspect the same might happen here as well.

I have a feeling that for Accor bookings, you won't get status benefits or any benefits. However for Hyatt you definitely get benefits and points earning etc.

For the US changes, aside from not refunding the taxes, they are changing the credit to be an average of the four nights, not the actual fourth night: In some cases you win, in others you lose. I haven't seen anything about this change for HK yet.

Yes, after the request, they conference call with the US agent to confirm the booking. Credit for 4th night, all inclusive, is credited in 2 cycles. I was able to earn points for the Hyatt booking.
This was for a booking few months ago.

If I have all the other HSBC cards but don't have the Platinum one, I can get the 300RC? Earn rate for this card is pretty crappy tho

Fluffydot: yes. You just don't use the card after and churn it after you (ahem) catch'em all (a phase I'm going thru right now)

For a second there, I thought paying my CLP and other utility bills would qualify as an eligible transaction under the current spend $8k, $200 supermarket coupon promo, but alas the TCs exclude bill payments via Internet Banking.

What about Octopus AV?

Do utility bills ever qualify as an eligible transaction for these RC bonus promos?

Qualify for welcome offer but not other seasonal offers.

I am thinking of changing my 6X (HSBC) from dining to another category, and want to ask about the following:

I usually buy either ex-TPE I fare, would it qualify as Lifestyle (Cathay Pacific Airways), or Overseas Spending (settled on website in TWD)?

Because if the latter qualifies, I probably won't bother putting it in lifestyle and just go on in on overseas spending, and also use the card when not in Hong Kong.

I have trouble with the categorisation of purchase made online settled in foreign currencies (other than CNY, which has its own category for HSBC).

CX ticketing hotline can also help me pay a ticket in HKD instead of currency in the outpost country. I once bought an ex-PVG I fare, and was not allowed to use visa/master card on the site. I just stayed on the page and called. Apparently they can access the booking that I am in the process of paying, and will automatically convert the cost (with slightly better rate than visa) into HKD. But I will need to know how are lifestyle and overseas spending counted to decide.

I guess technically I am also interested in knowing that buying I fare ex-TPE tickets and paying online on CX HK website, settled in TWD, would be categorized as spending with CPA? Overseas? Online? (albeit the last category being irrelevant to HSBC rewards of choice. The only think with HSBC relevant to online would be the new credit card offer, 2% on online spending. But this may be relevant to cards from other banks that has online spending bonus?)

Have the bonus points from the CCB 939 Summer Promo credited already? Or are we still waiting?

Question to the experts on this forum. For those with lots of credit cards and many of them unused, when do you decide to cancel (or churn)? What factors do you consider before cancelling?

Whether miles are available or not (1X Miles is generally more attractive than 1X cash rebate or coupon)
If Miles, whether there are any attractive earn rates
Whether they have any attractive merchant promos or spend promos in past 12 months

As a counter-point, whether they have any attractive welcome offers (lack of attractive welcome offers like BoC discourages me from churning)
