For Dec 2015-10 Jan 2016, the T&C explicitly stated non-HK/non-HKD online count.

For this promo the T&C reverted to the June 2015 version (requirement to have original sales slip). No memo means no online for the time being.
Thanks for clarification

Yes

1/(1/4.167 + 1/2.5) = 1(.24 + .4) = $1.5625/mile

The T&C state "a Cardholder is entitled to receive a maximum of $260 Extra RewardCash under this promotion"

I guess this means $260 extra RC per person, regardless of how many cards?

HSBC Promo better than CCB 939 for overseas spending?

So does this HSBC promo mean that we're better off using HSBC (especially if registered our 6X as overseas) for overseas transactions of $500+ instead CCB 939? (even with Instant Travel Club 3X bonus or CCB Eye 5x online bonus).

Just booked a rental car in Sydney on a CCB card, but wondering if I should switch it over an HSBC VS instead.

Dgittings: you don't sign a card slip for Australian rentals (at least w Avis). They take a pre-auth and then charge days after you leave (I mean charge, not post). I'm not sure whether they qualify for either promo tbh

Thanks. I forgot about that. You're quite right, last time I rented in Oz I didn't get a CC slip.

But how about other $500+ overseas transactions more generally? (where you do get a sales slip).

Now better off with HSBC than CCB 939?

Friend has to make a deposit for HKD 48k.

She has HSBC Premier, CCB Visa Infinite, Citibank Premiermiles and SCB Visa Infinite.

She doesn't really maximise miles and rarely if ever uses the CCB and Citibank cards, so no points balances on any of those.

Anyway, any suggestions on which card to use? I was going to suggest the SCB Visa Infinite assuming she can get to HKD 50k given the current Winter Promo.

thanks

Should I assume that when it eventually does post it will be backdated to the transaction date so putting it in this CCB phase? (would be nice to believe they've lost it, but don't think that's realistic)

Has the 3.5K credit limit been held? If yes, can assume backdate.

Good point. Just checked, and seems it has been held.

On a separate note, presumably its too dangerous to draw cash against a card today if it's showing a debit balance, however small? Got one card where I transferred in too little so its still showing a debit balance of $500 after I ran up $40K on that card over the past month (mostly on tax and other non eligible items). Although the card's still eligible for another $9K or so of 939 points in this phase, presumably even if I transfer in that $9K today I risk being hit with one day's interest on all my spending over the past month?
