people here can critique CX for everything
but not the brush wing
that was and is easily one of the most successful brand icons

Well its official now I guess....
All I can say is - I will get used to it, and I will probably come to like it in time, but for now its quite a shock.
Positives:
-Larger titles now positioned above window line. So important to connecting the brand with the airline.
-Tail - Totally get the freeing of the brush wing logo and removal of red in line with new branding.
-----
However, I think the greyish cheatline could have been improved my making it less rigid and a bit more modern, relaxed, ad wavy.
I also think the front could have retained the green, and just copied like at the tail - so without the red.
Where will Asia's World City Logo now be placed? Similar to KA and further down the fuselage?

I think its Ok.. as in I don't hate, and it isn't any worse than the current one, but then I don't really like it either. They did such a great job on all the other elements in the brand refresh, this just feels like a bit of a missed opportunity. Way too dull and Eurowhite looking for my taste, as much as I do like simple and clean design, this is just crying out for some kind of accent, or a splash of a secondary colour palette in there somewhere.

My take on the new scheme:
I don't like it. But at the same time, don't hate it either. A moderate to strong dislike of the new scheme if you ask me.
The positives:
-Larger titles
-The mint green or gray stripe give it contrast so it doesn't look all "eurowhite"
-At least they retained the engine logos
The negatives:
-Looks too plain
-Not sure if I like the tail. The tail could've been smaller
Overall, It could've been better and at the same time, it could've been worse. It wouldn't look so bad if it was on a Oneworld scheme.

Given that the studio behind the branding and livery refresh (Eight) seemed to be more of a production house for MNC brands than a branding agency with public accomplishments, I wonder how they got the CX contract. The brand was meh but the livery just takes away whatever was admirable from the Landor days (and there was a lot to like!).
The narration over the video just takes the cake: ridiculous. No wonder the video's taken off Youtube now!

I remember how "upset" I was with AA's rebranding, because it was so bold and in your face.
I have the same feelings here for CX's effort, but for the opposite reason... way to get lost in the crowd!
I think I see a faint green cheatline/band, but that won't be noticeable from a distance. Unless there's a big CATHAY PACIFIC on the belly, this plane will got lost in the clouds.
I added the pic to the wiki for easy reference. May the judging continue.

And woops (before the official launch)
Shows the cheatline much better and matching (at least on the 777) engines
