Daughter turning 18 - past travel taken into account on joining MPC?

My daughter turns 18 this month and is finally eligible to join MPC in her own right. She has been a member of Asia Miles for many years. My question is this - will her current year mileage accrual be taken into account for status purposes? If it is, she will jump in at Gold (which would be nice)

While it probably won't be officially, if you write to the MPC's email address, they will very likely comp Silver or Gold status for one year in this type of case, and probably also waive the US$50 joining fee.

Definitely unofficial, but established practice. A few of my friends experienced this, and one or two or them, though granted they were children of more well-known people, were automatically invited as well. However keep in my they all travelled heavily on Cathay in the year or two prior to turning 18. (Almost every month both short and long haul, mix of Y and J fares, but not full fares. They would've reached either Silver/Gold if they were 18.)

At least two instances I know where they were automatically Silver and Gold.

My daughter jumped from AM to GO when she turned 18 in November. She travelled 80K miles last year
