I suspect that more is coming. Will update if I see any other ones.

Of course that's the reason CX is operating to DOH...

CX sending out signal to BA that it's just not about them or transitting through Heathrow anymore!

Is the fact that CX is also codesharing the QR HKGDOH flights (e.g. CX9201) and QR codesharing the CX ones (e.g. QR5800) known?

+1. For me, and many I suspect, the real boon is access to a whole host of second-tier cities that Qatar (and Emirates as well) serves to their hubs. Particularly intriguing is the choice of GVA, in an area traditionally considered home turf of LX/LH, together with the new Etihad Regional it may mean the ME3 are ready to challenge LH preeminence there.
Personally I am looking forward to the codeshare to VCE. If they can also rearrange the timing to arrive in HKG at morning, that would pretty much kill the need for me to pass to any european hub.

How is that least helpful? At the time it was speculation as no one even identified CX is flying to DOH. It escalated to something else after the announcement was made.

It's part of an overall switch in strategy at CX. Plus Qatar and Doha are much more in line with the CX business model and passenger expectations. Even a 1-2 hour Cathay flight in regional business class on Cathay outpaces CW by miles in everything but the flat bed.

I have clients that it really angers and appalls to arrive into LHR with expectations of a business seat with at least some more leg room and personal/attentive service to be put on an A320 in CE.

I think taking the extra leg room out of CE was the last straw for a code/share agreement between CX and BA. Meanwhile QR has upgraded its HK A330 flight from older slanted to new fully flat bed to keep
it in line with CX's offering.

I'm doing HKG-DOH-GVA in feb, first time on a QR single aisle. Grabbed the last two seats the Friday before Chinese New Year. Will be interesting to see if the service is still up to standard on the smaller planes they are going to use for these routes
