New EWR route discussion

Will EWR have it's own crew?

Or will it be United crew.... urgh... Chicago have their own crew and it's the best NA CX crew in my opinion, they really go above and beyond (at least to take care of DMs)

EWR security is notorious for being one of the worst in the nation, I'm not looking forward to it, I hope CX crew will escort DMs through the same way ORD crew does it.

Yes. CX has hired customer service agents, station managers, etc.

I went through EWR last year flying BA and thought the overall experience was great (relative to expectations of US airports). Had no problems with security and was certainly better than TBIT.

Well, I've done frequent pick-ups, drop-offs to friends and colleagues and heard many horror stories. I will guess the 2 a.m. flight will help a bit...

Do a quick google search on TSA boneheaded messed-ups and you will see EWR often... they had to clear the airport twice between someone slipped past them.

Presumably the flight will be from terminal B (BA lounge) instead of A (AA lounge)? I've never been there but i heard the lounge should be better than the one at JFK T7?

It's not difficult to be better than TBIT! LAX is the most annoying entry/exit process from the US. I have missed several connecting flights before due to the mess that is TBIT.

+1

TBIT is the best marketing tool out there for the Global Entry program.

The Manager on Duty will be a CX employee but the Customer Service Agents will be with WFS.

Totally agree TBIT is a truly awful experience & in general the staff are a general disgrace to the human race

Not a huge fan of EWR, but certainly no worse than many airports. I'm looking forward to not having to go all the way to JFK, honestly. And with a departure that late it can't be that terrible.

Terminal B is confirmed - which is where most if not all international flights are handled. Hopefully BA galleries will stay open

EWR Lounge

is now posted on CX web site. It lists BA Galleries , open only until 10:45pm !
This will be a long, uncomfortable wait for a flight as EWR tends to shutter in the evening. Does anyone know whether the Lounge will remain open for the 1:50am flight?

i have to imagine it will if they say it's BA Galleries.

Before SFO's new lounge opened a few years ago in SFO, CX used the BA lounge in SFO. CX873 SFO-HKG leaves between 11:10pm and 1:10am depending on the time of year. For that flight, the BA lounge was opened, staffed with CX employees and the contract crew that also presumably worked for BA. The last BA flight, by contrast, leaves SFO before 9pm.

I think it should remain open. Just like the JFK Galleries where it officially closes at 10pm but remains open until cx845 departs past midnight
