CX flight delay, will miss connecting flight....
I am scheduled to fly today with my two young daughters SFO to HKG then HKG to CAN (Guangzhou). Just woke up to a message saying the SFO-HKG flight is delayed by an hour half due to late inbound flight, arriving HKG at 20:25pm. This means we will completely miss the HKG-CAN flight which is scheduled to leave 20:20pm. It is the last flight of the day and the next flight is the following morning at 8am.
Will Cathay put us up in HK airport hotel? We are flying first class thanks to AA miles. But I don't have any status with AA or OneWorld.

CX does at times hold flights for people connecting, you should expect to be greeted by the ground staff after you deplane and they will advise you of the situation

You will be fine. Things they will do;
Greet you at the gate your SFO flight arrives, then the following:
Your connecting flight has been held for you and escort you via buggy
or
Put you on the next flight and give you accommodation for the night

My recent experience on SIN-HKG-LHR. 02/12/13. Scheduled 1hr connection time.
50mins late departing SIN owing to storms.
25mins late arriving in HKG.
Met at airbridge and escorted via fast track to our departure gate. Board immediately and still managed to be onboard CX253 to LHR 15 mins before scheduled departure time. Even my luggage made the LHR flight
Fantastic ground service by Cathay.
Merry Christmas
