New fees for changing award bookings

Airline Award Ticket Re-booking
Applicable only to change of confirmed flight date or flight number for tickets issued on or after 8 October 2013, with the same itinerary, same airline, and same ticket expiry date. Charge per flight sector per passenger.
The fee is USD 25 or 1,000 miles. The fee doesn't apply to online amendments.

I hope this means that the online booking service is going to become much more functional after 8 October 2013, to include checking availability on OneWorld partners etc.

Applies to online and phone

I just spoke to MPO and it applies to all changes - Online or Phone - to tickets issued after 8 October.

That sucks , and I think the change fee should just be 10USD. Looking at other fees in terms of cash VS miles, it's always 100USD or 10,000miles. Why not make this 10USD or 1000 miles. Buu

Per the website asiamiles.com it looks specific to phone bookings to me.

"n/a" just means it's not doable online, the only way to do it is to phone them.

One of the very few benefits of the Asia Miles program was free date changes. Oh well.

I reckon we can throw in a fight, make news public, and make tons of comments

They might just about give in

What about upgrade awards? More importantly does DM get waiver?

Probably another soon-to-be unpublished benefit

Shame on them. Very bad for them to just sneak it in, and hope we don't notice it.

When credit cards do the same thing (like changing the redemptions from HK$12 : 1 Asia Mile to HK$15 : 1 Asia Mile), at least they send us something in the mail (albeit on a small slip of paper with super tiny size 6 font).

Perhaps this is a way for them to earn extra revenue, while decreasing workload of their call center staff.

I'll raise this at the DM luncheon on Wednesday. At least they should waive this fee for DM/GO.

New fees for changing award bookings over the phone

Psychiatrist- please do bring this up at the luncheon!

And do let us know what you think the best follow up track would be.

Personally, I'd be fine with the change IF there was an option to do everything online for free....

Yes, please do raise this at the luncheon!
Very bad taste...
Let them know SQ doesn't charge for Award Ticket Changes

Compared to AA, waived for P and EP, but $75, less than 21 days before flight.
