Yeah, you can. You can get like 10 in Y and up to 4 it looks like in C.

And you could've found this out in 2 minutes by using a tool like KVS or even using the free BA website.........

CX HKG-NRT J award

Why don't you look it up on the BA award search? Or call up AA or BA or the FF redemption agent ?

CX would ask me for a specific date and time which I don't have. I just want to ask experienced FTers on the forum what are the general award availability like with CX as I'm not familiar with the airline.

Yeah...but it's so much easier to ask on the forum the ff agent won't tell me how many award seats they generally have on each flight without having a specific date.

In other words, why aren't you as experienced in this as I am?

No need for this kind of response -- you don't know why the poster asked the question -- there's no reason to attack.

I've removed some posts that were rude & personal attacks. If you don't want to help the OP then don't reply. Now moving to CX forum for more expert advice.

I didn't try the peak season, mostly very easy to get 4 J ( didn't try Y b4 ) to NRT. I thought that the award ticket travel within Asia is quite easy to redeem. For one way HKG-NRT is 30000 miles for J. If you do not have the exact date to travel, you can try CX redeem AM to do a dummy booking.

just a heads up... the Delta fly HKG-NRT, and their business class is priced at HK$5300 return all in, which is same as Economy CX to HKG-HND. For comparison, CX J is priced 4x richer at about 20k HKD. Obviously got restriction like no date changes etc but I think that's a serious alternative to burning 50000 x 4 = 200k Asiamiles which is probably enough for HKG-JFK in first.

the price is always available provided subclass S is available.

I'm loyal CX customer (or used to be) but my next trip to Tokyo i'm going the Delta option. If your dates are fixed, you might want to consider this as your alternative.

for dummy booking on asia miles, what if it's not the lowest cost available? Like ti shows availability but 70k and not 30k, does that mean that if I book on BA, i can get a seat on it for Ba's standard redemption? Or do they block all 70k mile seats for redemption through partner airline?

Questions on redemption using BA miles should be raised in the BA forum.
