OLCI for F Pax
Is there any advantage to doing so?
|
No.
You spoil the fun of being able to check in at the F class counters. Its only beneficial if you plan to change/reserve your seat. |
Does CX overbook F?

Is there any particular fun in doing so in HKG? I know TG at BKK, BA at LHR and SQ at SIN try to do the luxury hotel thing (sit down with an attendant instead of waiting in a queue, and so on), and there's of course LH's FCT at FRA. Is CX a similar experience? It doesn't look it from this picture...

F checkin at HKG is spartan. You just go to a standup counter. Nothing fancy. No escort; No priority at security or immigration. You must walk to the F lounge (and now the F Wing is closed). No buggy. And then food/wine in F lounge is poor (coz they mostly cater to OW emerald). I like CX F, but its ground service is lacking.

You only get a buggy voucher if your gate no. is 40+.

Can't you still go to the F check-in desk to get your BP printed on proper stock and check your baggage even if you've done OLCI?
I recently did OLCI for a flight (was in J, so wanted to secure a low BN- no point doing that for F really since there's nowhere to op-up you to lol) and I had no problems checking in as normal. The only thing the agent asked is whether or not I'd printed out my BP- I hadn't- so she printed one on the cardstock. Admittedly there's no point in doing OLCI if you're in F, but I don't see why it would spoil anything. |

I sometimes OLCI even when flying F just so that I can get BN: 1 on my boarding pass :D

You are a DM, right? I have found that, even as DM, this is inconsistent. For example: *Checking in at the Airport Express counter in Central even with a 40+ gate, I rarely am offered a buggy coupon (once or twice out of probably 200+ flights, of which say 10-20% are gates 40+). Whenever I have asked at the Airport Express counter, however they promptly gave it to me. *Checking in (or saying hi) at the F counters at HKIA I almost always am automatically handed a voucher if the gate is 40+ without asking for it. Seems almost automatic there. I find them rather embarrassing to use regardless, driving around in those stupid beeping carts which plod along at the pace of everyone else, and since they only hand them out to the DM pax (not the folks you're travelling with), you can't even make a joke out of it and all ride in the cart together. |
