As you may know I am going to pay off my wedding banquet bill using various cards, may I confirm the miles that I could get with the following arrangements?
***Assuming the same expenditure can earn AM from both welcoming and special promotion
Total: $110,000
1) WLB $60000
--> 5000AM (welcoming) + 15000AM ($4=1AM promotion)
2) Citi PremierMiles $50000
--> 15000AM (welcoming) + 7470AM ($6=1AM promotion for over $25000)

Shacom good now - 62,500 miles for $50,000 spending, if paid on Sunday/p.h. in payment of st least $500 (no daily/weekly/monthly cap).
You have to do some guesswork whether shacom classifies your merchant as restaurant and event as not banquet.
Merchant classification: yes - non-hotel restaurants, restaurants outside big chains (up to about mandarin oriental and peninsula in size); no - big chain hotels like Marriott, shangri-la, ritz Carlton and four seasons, transactions processed outside of the restaurant.
I'm not sure how shacom determines banqueting event. Spending type shown on slip maybe, see if the merchant can show u some recent slips (merchant copy) at the cashier.

SCB Platinum - Up to $1,000 cash coupon (or $500 coupon and 7,000AM) 10 Apr-31 May
How did we miss this?
http://www.standardchartered.com.hk/...lcome-gift/en/
$500 coupon for spending $4,800 in first two months
5X SCB points on first $25,000 spending in first three months
1,000 coupon:
$500 coupon for spending $4,800 in first two months
125,000 pts for spending $25,000 in first three months (additional $20,200, as above $4,800 counted into $25,000) --> $500 coupon
7,000AM
Spend $22,400 --> 112,000 SCB points
112,000 SCB points = 28,000 MoneyBack points (28 transfers of 4,000 SCB points) (this must be done over three days at kiosks)
28,000 MB points = 7,000 miles (70 transfers of 400 MB points) (this can be done on the last day, in one go)
You can spend up to $25,000 under the 5X welcome offer, but any excess between $22,400 and $25,000 cannot be converted to miles - you have to spend the MB in Park'N'Shop.
At $22,400, $3.2/mile, on any spending except bill payment - not bad.
kaka pls update offers welcome list - not a terrific miles welcome offer but there's the $500 Park'N'Shop "kicker" to make it worthwhile.

Yes of course:
112,000 pts = 7,000 miles and no fees
or via SCB redemption: 112,000 = 7,466 miles (you might need to build up to 120,000 pts really) less $300 fees.
If using $0.1/mile nominal value, the fees are really punitive foe extra miles gained.

Me too. Was thinking of cutting this anyway so this made the decision easier. I already can't justify $1200 in annual fee for 7.5/1 which is not even close to market best so to charge even more doesn't make sense. Discounts not enough even over a year to justify it, as many other cards have similar discounts too.
