Whose priority used on waitlist
My wife has no elite status with CX. She redeemed her Asia Miles mileage for a free ticket for me. Currently I am still on the waitlist. I am wondering whether or not adding my AA EXP to the PNR through "Manage My Booking" can possibly help bump me up to higher priority in the queue. Can anyone shed some light on this scenario? @:-)

Your status will help but you will need to call up MPO for them to manually upgrade your waitlist priority.

I believe normally the sponsor's priority is used, but they can probably take into account the passenger's status. It won't hurt asking. If your wife is a MPC member, call MPC. Otherwise call Asia Miles.

I agree either the sponsor's or the passenger's status could be useful - but, I thought it's only MPO status that would be recognized in Asia Miles redemption. would they consider oneworld status too ?

Waitlists in asiamiles bookings are handled manually. So if inventory control sees another FFP on the booking, it will be rejected automatically and worse, ignored. Waitlist clearance will depend on route, and inventory. Basically inventory control has the final say as to who gets the seat or not. So even someone with no status can basically have a higher priority than another Oneworld Emerald member as far as CX is concerned. |
