CX and KA Lounge question

I'm booked YYZ-HKG (CX F) HKG-DPS-HKG (KA J) and HKG-PEK-HKG-YYZ (CX F). I'm not sure I understand the rules correctly. HKG-DPS, am I permitted in the CX lounge? Also, HKG-PEK, am I permitted in the CX F lounge since I'm on a KA flight? Lastly, I understand that PEK has only a KA lounge, is that correct.
I would be pleased with even partial reponses. :)

As far as lounges are concerned CX and KA are all the same - if you're travelling next on either airline then you are allowed in any CX or KA lounge appropriate for your class of travel and/or status.

And KA doesn't fly (or codeshare ) to DPS so you've got something wrong somewhere.

My error

YYZ-HKG (CX F) HKG-DPS-HKG (CX J) HKG-PEK-HKG (KA F) HKG-YYZ (CX F).
Sorry about that.
Thanks for the reponse. I thought that KA/CX had equal lounge access. A collegue mentioned something about no CX F lounge access on a KA F ticket.

One of the reasons why I don't fly CX/OW anymore :p

If I recall correctly that was the case before KA joined oneworld, but that was some time ago.

That was the case before KA joined MPC (instead of OW). I thought I had no access to the F lounges on KA flights back then. One day I decided to try my luck, I was admitted to the F lounge on a KA ticket.

Or, for that matter, any Oneworld lounge, under the conditions of Sapphire/J or Emerald/F. In HKG, you could try the JL or QF lounges- despite you not setting foot on either carrier.

The fact that the Wing/Pier would be overloaded/"infested" with KA pax

So would you prefer the *G lounges - KF/SK, TG, RCC - to the Wing/Pier?

You should have CX/KA F (where available) lounge access all the way. If you are transiting in HKG to DPS, you should have F lounge access in HKG too. Even if you are not transiting, as there is no F on the DPS route and your ticket is basically F, you can probably still be admitted to a F lounge.

Your colleague was right regarding CX lounge access while on KA, but the rule was changed in early 2007.

Regarding your other post, there is a combined CX/KA lounge in PEK. The lounge is shared by both F and J passengers.

Not really -- thankfully, I have retained my IN status despite not actively flying CX/OW so I can go to the Wing/Pier whenever I so choose ;)

Wow, for a moment I thought hairpeace has defected to *A... and now he's retained his IN status!

If my recollection is correct, I believe hairpiece is a "she", not a "he". Perhaps she got the Life membership before the OW days.

tedhl Aug 13, 2009 2:49 am

if I remember right I thought hairpeace's IN status wasn't really from a lot of flying before, but more like from being a director for Tung Wah Group of Hospitals or something ? (a big charity organization in HK)

but, yes, I also think the F lounge (esp Wing, haven't been to Pier for a while) is way too packed. my hypotheses is that the economic downturn has also something to do with it - more people are now flying Y and so they prefer to go to the F lounge (with their AAdv, DM, etc status) for some (somewhat) decent food first before flying and so skipping the Y food; while before more of them would just eat the J meal inflight. I don't know, but at least I heard this from a few friends/colleagues...
