Check-in and Opups

I know CX has a priority list guiding them who to give OP-ups to. But does when a person check-in, early or late, affect their chances of op-ups? Are lower boarding numbers assigned to those who have checked-in earlier?

What about Counter Check-in versus Online Check-in?

Can't seem to find any threads answering these two questions. But I am sure the very knowledgeable people on this forum could.

Thank you in advance

Seems you did not search good enough, it has been discussed million (if not zillion) times

In the FAQ, the first post you should have read for this

First and foremost, welcome to FlyerTalk & the Cathay Pacific Asiamiles forum.

The only thing that really matters for CX is status. Your chances are better for op up if you have Marco Polo Club status. Otherwise at least Sapphire and above on one of their Oneworld partners.

If not, then your chances of an op-up will be quite low.

Your question has been asked many times in this forum. Please do a search using the little button on the top right hand corner of the forum. Otherwise have a read at the CX FAQs... which stands for Frequently Asked Questions....

I recently got upgraded from Y to J on a flight HKG-AMS. I was travelling on a B fare with only a BA Blue card on file. Needless to say it was a big surprise, and a very welcome one, too.
