Seat guaranteefor others?
 

I know it's not supposed to happen, but does anyone on here have any experience goading (or otherwise getting) CX/KA to use the DM seat guarantee for someone else? Aka, the DM member only makes the reservation, but doesn't actually fly...

you can't it is only for the DM member. however they will put your companion on the DM priority waitlist. May be different for DM+ or IN

It hasn't worked for me.

trying trying trying for upgrade Y>J (KVS showing J9 C9) and according to the MPO ladies "she is on the DM priority waitlist". Fast forward 5 weeks....still on the DM priority waitlist.

Spouse of DM+ is already DM so they can use seat guarantee themselves.

Of course, the seat guarantee is different to your situation.

not necessarily "spouse", DM+ can nominate any one person to be DM, no need to be spouse, I think. e.g. a DM+ friend I know said he nominated his mother-in-law instead because his wife flies with him always anyway, no need to have DM benefits herself, but his mother-in-law flies much more often herself.

As a diamond, I have never manage to use the seat gurantee on my travelling companion. However, my colleague(DM+) has cleared his travelling companion using his DM+. So i assume DM+ has another of those unannounced privilege.
