Hi all,

I know that Cathay operates HKG-CNS-BNE-CNS-HKG. I've tried booking BNE-CNS and return and had no luck, is there anyway to book this route with Cathay? (BNE-CNS-BNE).

That is cabotage, which is probably the most contentious issue in international aviation. Most countries restrict the carriage of passengers between two cities within the country to their domestic airlines, no matter how good it would be for consumers to have more competition and therefore, probably, lower prices.

Using the OP's example, if CX has most of its passengers on the route HKG-BNS-CNS-BNE-HKG actually flying HKG BNE HKG then they have a lot of empty seats BNE-CNS-BNE and could offer a very attractive fare to put BIS on those legs. Clearly this would put major pressure on a domestic airline for whom that route is a profit centre.
