The Irony of CX Menus/Lounge

LOL...

Well here I am sitting in the Wing and all I want is a "Hong Kong Milk Tea", exactly as they have on each of their first class menu on all of my recent F flights.

Every single Pen staff member gave me confused looks. I ask the front desk staff what I should be asking for, and they say just ask for a milk tea...
Next delivered is earl grey....
More confused looks.

The light dawns on one of the staff and they tell me that if I want *that* I will have to go and buy it outside. When I ask if I am allowed to bring this back into the lounge.... More confused looks...

Ho hum, earl grey it is eh....

If you could tell them in Cantonese, it would be much easier ;-)

I know they serve milk tea in the lounges - both hot and iced, but I always ask in Cantonese.:)

Hard to believe they were confused!

"Gong Sick Lie Cha"

Lie as in "lie on my bed"

Cha as in Char-grill

Dunno if that will help...

Thanks for your help guys.

No despite my reassurance that other people have had it in the past they are not able to serve on the ground what they are able to in the sky.

They did direct me to a shop at the opposite side of front section of the airport...

interesting, I never ordered this, but I thought "Hong Kong Milk Tea" would sound clear enough already, vs. Cantonese...

I'm just thinking about this point...e.g. do they serve Cathay Delight in the lounges, at least the HKG J/F ones ?

Yes they do - at least they used to.

I suppose my frustration is that it's a pretty common drink. I'm not sure "cathay delight" is something you could get at your local food hall...
Perhaps the word "common" is the problem :)

Cathay Delight and Pacific Sunrise are offered in "even" months while Oriental Breeze and Cloud Nine are offered in "odd" months.

Yes but only during even numbered months (Feb, April, June...). During odd numbered months they serve the new rose drink, not sure what it's called. I don't understand is why they can't do both!

Well if you're upcoming flight is in J or F, it's something to look forward to onboard!

This is the case onboard, but in the lounge I think they serve it all the time?

When I was in the F lounge at the Pier, there was a little card with some other cocktails available that are not available onboard. These were nice to try. At the Wing they don't have the same card telling you what's available, as there is no open bar there in the F section.

LOL yes, I have been forced to treat my extreme distress with cookies and cream ice cream....
Hmm wonder if i can get baileys on that... Nah way to complex... ;)
