777 J seats vs A330
I've just taken hkg to jfk on cx840 on the new asias world city aircraft. I noticed a few differences compared to my J seats on the A330.
- the position of the tv and table are different relative to each other. On the a330 it was possible to open the table when the tv screen was fully extended. On the 777 this wasn't possible. - there is now an Ethernet and USB port at each seat - the seat seemed to be slightly less claustrophobic. Don't know if this was a real difference or just perception. I suspect the 777 seat was angled more to the front as it seemed easier to look out the window. Again it might have just been perception. - the seat seemed longer. I don't know if its just because I pushed my head further back when sleeping but my feet definitely didn't touch the ottoman surround as much as on the a330. - being a newer plane the seat seemed to be in better shape but that's prob just because of the newness the high ceilings of the 777 certainly make a difference to the airiness and I think it is now my aircraft of choice. |

Actually the 33Bs are also new to the fleet.
I think the airbus seats will be smaller than the Boeing, which is consistent with VS as well. (their 346 seats are slightly smaller than the 744) I think the best J class seats on CX now are the Upper deck 74A becasue it is 7 inches longer and the ottoman is bigger |

Which seat did you like best on the UD J 74A?

yes because where the side lockers used to be, this is all turn into the seat space. I highly enjoyed the new seats compare to the old one on the UD 74A. the 33B is not that good, the airbag seat belt and the smaller ottoman and less length makes it inferior.
Anyhow though, I wish they had made that more cushioned so it actually was a longer "seat", as opposed to fabric over hard plastic. I've taken to bringing along an extra pillow with me on 74A flights upstairs in J so I can maximize that space, because if you don't I've found it actually hurts when you lay on it. It's pretty good if you're willing to customize though, grab extra cushions, blankets, whatever I bring my own pillow,I used my coat once, if you do that then more space is pretty good. |

Any thoughts on best J seat on the 777 new configuration? I am assuming a window seat. I have grabbed the bulkhead as Seatguru gave it a slight advantage but looking for actual experience.
|
All the seats are much of a muchness. There is a mini cabin at the front which has just 2 rows (8 seats) but I feel this is too crowded. So I would just take a seat a few rows from the front of the second cabin to avoid the noise of the galley, but to still get served meals first.
The second cabin is looooooong. |
There's really no such thing as a window seat in the new J, if by "window seat" you mean one from which you can comfortably look out of a window.
