Can Waitlist for One Flight Only for Upgrade?
 

I just got a rude surprise. I called to request upgrade using Asiamiles. It needs to waitlisted, as usual. :p But I was advised that I can only waitlist for one flight as the policy changed on 15-Nov-08. :confused::mad: I must hold a confirmed booking in economy before I can waitlist, since I am only allowed one confirmed economy flight, I can only waitlist for one upgraded flight. :td::mad: Furthermore, I cannot hold a confirmed upgrade while waitlisting for a different date. :td::td::td: This is terrible, if true. Anyone has any recent experience? :confused:

Well these rules are not really applicable to DMs and GO as we get guarantee Y Class bookings anyway. I currently have over 5 WL bookings on a upgrade request (they bend the rules a bit for me as I think you are normally onyl allowed 3). Also I just realised 1 of them = confirmed already!

I am GO but I was told that I can only waitlist for one flight. Furthermore, my confirmed upgrade must be cancelled since the economy booking needs to be confirmed for the new date.:mad: In order to keep my confirmed booking and waitlist for 3 upgrades, I need 4 different PNRs. Does that make sense? :confused:

Really? try calling again and speak to another agent. I had no problems and I made the call post the changes in place.

DM and GO may not be the same. When DMs call MPC, we can likely get a confirmed upgrade very quickly except for sold-out cabins or on certain routes. So waitlisting or not may not make a big difference.
