How close is it to the CX gates?

Is it worth checking out even if I'm on the 9am departure to HKG?

Thanks,
Trevor

With a CX ticket, would you be eligible for either of these, even if you were there when they were on offer? My impression was that you wouldn't be.

Terminal 7 at JFK is relatively small. You are not too far from any gate.

Agreed. The Lounge is located just past security up the stairs and to the left. To get to the CX gates, its no more than a 2 minute walk. JFK's terminal 7 is really small. Before I got elite status and lounge access, I got bored because there really isn't anything to do. I think for the new 9 am flight though, there might be a few more people in the lounge because if I'm not mistaken, some of the last morning flights to LHR on BA take off around then.

Actually, there is full-service buffet style pre-flight supper available. You have to keep in mind that you were there in the afternoon, before any supper service would have been available... as these pre-flight supper services are geared towards sleeper flights departing in the evening. and to echo jjpb3's thoughts- you do have to hold a BA boarding pass to gain access to the supper area.

i was actually at the terraces lounge at JFK just last night. flew into LHR out of JFK at 2030. the lounge was very nice, elemis spa treatment was heavenly.
couldn't help but to pop by the arrivals lounge at T4 this morning for a second helping of elemis services. :D

If I'm not mistaken though, the buffet and the Elemis Spa are open only to BA J/F passengers and CX F passengers. That's what the Elemis attendant told me when I had inquired while waiting for my CX 889 to HKG. Elite Status alone with CX doesn't earn you those perks in this lounge.

Ah cool, I'm looking forward to using the lounge during my upcoming CX flight. In a related question, how busy/crowded were the check-in and security lines like at T7in the morning?

tfung Dec 1, 2007 9:32 am

Terraces side is nice... but the First class side is horrible.. very hot and stuffy, and the food is never replenished... the BA staff also love using the F class washrooms... dunno why... even when flying in F, I prefer to sit over in the Terraces side....

I disagree though that its nicer than any US airline lounge... AA Flagship lounges are a bit nicer, and UA International F lounge in ORD is way better...

The T7 JFK CX economy line was quite busy in the morning, but the J and F counters (to the left, not well signed, I thought) were a breeze. There was even a completely separate security checkpoint further to the left. It meant a longer walk around to the lounge, but much, much quicker.

In addition, as far as I know, any MPC member can use the J check-in at JFK. It isn't limited to Elites because I was able to use it as a Green member back in the day. As far as the separate security line, it isn't always open, so if it was, consider yourself lucky. I've sometimes had to go wait on the general security line despite Gold status.

Well its good to hear the J/F check in lines tend to be clear, and I can just hope that the elite check-in lane is open for my 9AM flight. Fingers crossed.

I think G-man82 meant the elite security lane, not the elite/MPC check-in.

The JFK BA F lounge is basically for BA Gold card holders and OW emeralds: The BA F pax, and a couple of BA (non-OW standard) FF card types, are normally in the Concorde Room (About the same size as the Terraces lounges upstairs). This is a separate lounge to the left when you've got through premium pax security, although I dont think any other OW FF status levels will get you in there. Its seems to be BA only.
Maybe the Terraces F lounge does nt get maybe the attention it deserves as a result, but it does nt represent what the BA F pax experience is. Its maybe that both QF and CX have chosen not to pay BA to allow their F pax to access the Concorde Room.
