CX redemption booking problem

Hi, I was trying to book redemption flights HKG-SFO-SNA round trip flights. There are clearly flights on AA between SFO and SNA. However, CX's reservation system does not show any available flights (though they say UA and US have flights, but no AA flights). Why is that? Is there anyway I can book this (was actually trying to fly to LAX but the HKG-LAX is already full for redemption)?

Thanks.

it's hard to tell because you haven't specified dates - but bearing in mind that American Eagle use an ERJ140 with only 44 seats for the SFO-SNA sector it is not likely that there are ever a large number of seats available for redemption - perhaps around the dates you want they have already been taken ?

I was booking for a flight next July!! Which I thought should be readily available.....

AA flights' award availability can be checked on AA.com nowadays, so you may want to first check if the SFO-SNA award is available, then call CX to book. But, like kiwiandrew mentioned that this sector usually use eagle flight, you may also want to check SFO-LAX flights for availability too? Good luck.
