Getting an upgrade
 

Guys, I am flying to BKK this july and it looks like the LAX HKG flight is full or overbooked. I am at the lowest elite level from last year, I earned it again already so far and I am going to be gold level by november.Any suggestion on how to be upgraded and not waiting to hear from lady LUCK?

Did you mean you are a MPC Silver and try to redeem a U ticket? Did you just check on the web or called MPC? Check with MPC. There are several flights a day and they will be able to waitlist (or get you) you on a flight.

If you have traveling companion, then there may be a problem.

If you're at the lowest rung of elite statuses, then may we suggest you just hope that lady luck is smiling down on you...

There may be other people ahead of you hoping for just the same! ;)

I've done it once... be the first in OLCI. then Good luck and board LATEST.... absolutely latest.
If you're lucky enough, you'll get it.

The wonderful thing about LAX services is that 2 out of the 3 flights are consistenly operated by B74J flights. The additional business class seats makes op-up or mileage upgrade a little easier than other routes. I have had op-ups as a Silver on this route.

Thank guys, I hope and see. They are installing new seats and maybe it is too early. Anyway I will fly Business in November after my vacation in Phuket, than I will have enough miles to upgrade anyeay.

74J has more J seats than 744. The new confioguration in 74A will have even fewer J seats than 744. Hence the chance for any upgrade (op-up or award) will be lower.
