First time on CX in J

Hi, I've got a few flights coming up with Cathay and wondered could anyone tell me what to expect and anything to avoid. I flew CX in Y about 6 years ago but this will be my first time in J?

JNB-HKG on a 744

HKG-PEK, PEK-HKG, HKG-DPS on A330

DPS-HKG on a 744

I've got upper deck seats on the two 744 flights and window seats on the A330

What meals can I expect on the flights?

Which lounge is best at Hong Kong the Wing or the Pier?

Any information would be brilliant.

Thanks,

Chris

Not to be discourteous, but... as there are hundreds of posts on this subject, can you perhaps try the little search button on the upper right hand corner of this forum and try there for a start.

Try also the Trip reports.

But since you are so new to FT, I thought I'd just give you an abbreviated version of your questions, and you have the option of searching for the rest, ok?

See above alternate forum where there is an FAQ section for all your answers.

See THIS thread for hints as well as current CX J menu offerings.

Just go to the one nearest to where your plane departs. Due to the number of different flights you will be taking, you will have the opportunity to try both sometime. It is too complicated to tell you how to get to one or another due to the complexity of the airport. But again, search the forums as there are instructions on how to get from one to another at opposite ends of the airport.

Interesting question. Yes, according what we have heard it will indeed be your first time in J.

The best seats for me on the UD are 86A, 86K, 86C, 86H (in that order). Normally if I don't get those I will choose a aisle in the middle section downstairs unless if loads are close to capacity.
On the A330 (regional) all the seats in J are basically the same. Normally, I either take a bulkhead window or a aisle seat in the middle. It's your call.

Check out the J menus thread. Generally they are good, but not great. In case you are used to flying US Domestic Flights, CX always serves a hot meal in J and a full meal unless if the flight is very short (>2 hrs) and isn't during mealtimes. On the longhaul you will get Lunch and Breakfast and

If you're talking about the J side it's too close to call IMO. Go to whichever one is closest to your gate - that's the way most passengers decide anyway.
