What is the cheapest way to get into the Wing?
 

After looking at all the photos of the Wing and reading other threads, I want to get into the wing. I might be in HKG in July and have a couple of days to do a side trip to somewhere else, and was thinking what the cheapest (CX business class??) flight from HKG to somewhere that could get me into the Wing.

Those pictures were of the F side of the Wing, not the J side, so you won't see most of that with a J ticket. I guess the cheapest is an F or J ticket HKG-TPE. Of course the very cheapest is to be the guest of an Emerald pax, though you do need a same-day departure from HKG to get through security to reach the lounge.

The F Wing was nice....

And nothing says "Former British Colony" like sausage and baked beans for breakfast :D

Can also be the guest of a Sapphire/MPC Gold.

I forgot to mention that being the guest of another OW/MPC member, regardless of their status, will only get you to the J lounge, not the F lounge.

For a person who would like to visit the Wing/Pier without a F/J ticket on CX, and if he/she does not have OW/MPC status, then the person can enter as a guest of OW/MPC member.

OW SA/EM and MPC GO can take one guest flying that day to Wing/Pier. MPC DM can take two guests. But once there are guests, the OW/MPC membership only allows them to use the J lounge.

So the following means nothing?

Please can we not drag this board down to the level of Cathaytalk? The lounge access criteria are (reasonably) clearly stated on the CX website.

People who are flying in F or J without status get access to the corresponding lounges, without guests.

Diamonds get access with 2 guests to the F lounge when flying OneWorld in any class (what the guests are flying is irrelevant).

Other OneWorld Emeralds flying Oneworld get access to the F lounge with 1 guest (on any airline)

CX Golds and OneWorld Sapphires flying on OneWorld get access to the J lounge with 1 guest (on any airline)

Diamonds get access to the J lounge with 2 guests when flying on any airline.


(There are some subtleties about what exactly constitutes OneWorld in the realms of codeshares, but the bulk of cases are covered by the above.)

- People who are flying in F without status get access to the F lounge with 1guest (guest needs to be traveling on oneworld operated and marketed flight) (J without status - no guest)

- oneworld Emeralds flying oneworld get access to the F lounge with 1 guest - but the guest needs to be traveling on oneworld operated and marketed flight as well, not any airline (lounge attendants might make exception, but this is the official rule); same for oneworld Sapphires

- For CX DM/GO accessing CX lounges, yes, their guests can travel on any airlines (even non-oneworld)

- but for (1) Emeralds/Sapphires from other FFPs accessing CX lounges, or (2) CX DM/GO accessing other oneworld lounges - their guests need to be traveling on oneworld operated and marketed flights

I was wrong. I was not any OW airlines then. My apologies.

I see that the cheapest J on Cathay HKG-TPE is about HKD 5893+ tax and F is about 6,800+ tax. There must be something cheaper.

Well, according to this thread, you can earn AA EXP (OWE) for US$3900, and use status to get yourself and a guestinto the F Wing. Or, you can get AA PLT (OWS) for 1/2 the price and entry into the J Wing.

Any many other ways.
