Asia Miles to MPC

Since 1/1/06 I have collected 37k hard earned miles of Y & H fares.
Will I get an invite to MPC or do I have to pay the $50? My wife got free MPC membership at ~30k but she flies B or J.

I was reading through some of the older threads and it seems some folks have been given complimentary MPC admission. I abandoned NWA for tranpac flights starting this year and will lose my Plat for 2007, so I could use OW status.

I will be returning to Asia via HKG within 10 days - would it be best to enquire while waiting for my connection to XMN?

Thanks for any advice. I've been a lurker for quite some time (only other post was an NWA rant) and learned a lot from everyone.

With Y & H fares, you could have just joined AAdvantage as these are the booking classes which you can earn miles on.

You would have to pay the $50 if you want to join MPC. What may happen is that you will be fast tracked to Silver immediately.

How did your wife get MPC complimentary? Then maybe a phone call to MPC and state that since your wife got MPC free, you should too and you flew even more than she did.

However, I heard from somewhere that MPC will invite Asiamiles members to be MPC Silver once they collect 30000miles in that year, for free...

It's not official and not in writing anywhere. So if you call, you *might* get it or not...

Asia Miles to MPC Success

Just as a follow-up to this thread, I was received MP silver while I was in Asia over the past three weeks. I'm at 52k and climbing now. Was ready to do battle for status at HKG, when they kindly informed my that I was already at silver level.

Well, it was a semi-success

Although I did get complimentary MPC, they busted me down to zero miles after just a month. So while my Asia Miles account is well over 60k, I am 45k miles short of reaching gold this year.

But I am not too discouraged since gold doesn't seem to offer much more than silver. There is zero chance of ever getting an op-up on LAX-HKG routes (I fly H class, at best). I did get one from HKG to XMN, however.

I do miss the loyalty bonus from NWA - but that's about all I miss.

You do realise that you have 12 months from the date they reset you to zero? Your membership is defined by that date, not by calendar year.

Well it does offer guaranteed availability at any published economy fare at 72 hours notice. That is likely worth a lot to you on LAX-HKG...

I have never felt that op-up is determined by the fare class you pay, at least not primarily - status level is much more important. I'm always travelling on the cheapest mileage-earning fare in economy (because of the availability guarantee which comes with Diamond) and I am pretty regularly upgraded.
