MPC J LHR redeption...

Ok I know this is an insanely demanded route but my parents would like to use the godly AM miles to get a HKG LHR HKG Biz return in Oct 07.
Any tips??? Or is it just Mission impossible?
Assume they are MPC Green.
Mucho Gracias @:-) @:-) @:-) @:-) @:-)

Sometimes, even silver and gold members, it is mission impossible! I always have trouble upgrading these routes (eg LHR, SYD etc...) They BLOCK all the J seats! The only think one can do is check at airport for instant upgrade. It is how I do in these cities.

By the way I am waitlisting HKG SYD Y to J now for the flight in July 29 to SYD. Gods know it will clear or not...

I have been able to successfully upgrade to J on HKG/LHR and vv. Just be flexible with your dates and times. Also it's too early to book for October 2007 I think, max is 12 months out.

i know its kinda early. but its better to plan ahead...
1) Im trying to get a milage redemption rather than free upgrade. But what fares are available for upgrade anyways?

2) IF it is totally impossible to get 2 Js, would u guys prefer BA or QF?

J redemption and upgrade seats come from the same inventory. If you have a miles earning Y fare, you can upgrade (ie subclasses YBHKLMV).

I don't think it's impossible, you just have to be flexible and look hard. There actually are still F/J redemption seats in June/July 06.

Oct 07 - I don't think you can even book so far in advance (364 days limit).

Just look right when it opens in Oct 06 and book the dates that are closest to what you want. You can change later if more seats open up.

From my experience during non-peak periods you can get F/J seats on the daytime flights every week.

You can buy a BA premium economy and upgrade to biz return for only 35,000 Asia miles. You'll need to be on the phone nice and early though.

Sth just came up of my mind....
Since HKG-LHR is only 5992 miles, I've got 1500 miles to 'abuse'. So I can basically fly to anywhere BA serves in Europe.. but it didnt seem to work on asiamiles.com's flight award calculator.
So im wondering if its possible, to say like add a london berlin rtn trip?

It is, but remember that you are only allowed a total of two stopovers, so you would have to do a transit in LHR either on the way in or out.

what happens if therez a change in airport? ie. LGW LHR? 23.59 rule???

You're dealing with asiamiles' logic here. They will count that as a stopover since , as they would call it, you're arriving and departing at different airports!
