Posting AA Miles

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but it appears that I have to submit the "Missing Miles" form every time I fly on AA in order to get the credit in my AsiaMiles account. I've had to take a couple of AA flights recently...when I check in at AA, I tell them my Asia Miles account number and they tell me that it's in the computers; however, I've had to submit the "Missing Miles" form every time in order to get the miles. Before anyone tells me that it takes 6-8 weeks, I've waited three months now and this has happened all 4 times in the last year. While I realize that this is a minor inconvenience, I just want to know if this is normal. Thanks.

End of rant/inquiry.

There is a problem that I know about which is that the AsiaMiles computer attempts to validate all mileage credit received from AA against what it (the AM computer) thinks is AA's route network, and if the route you are trying to claim miles for is not known to the AsiaMiles system then it will silently bounce the request. This is only a good idea if the AsiaMiles computer is very frequently updated with AA's route network, and, a year or two ago this wasn't happening.

I had this problem repeatedly after AA introduced JFK-PHX. I could only get the miles on AsiaMiles by manually requesting them.

The way to check whether this is the problem is to try to submit the Missing Mileage claim online at the AsiaMiles site - if the route is not in it's database then it will throw an error there too.

What route is it that you have problems with?

LAX-DFW, LAX-DFW-BTR, DCA-LGA, LAX-ORD...none of these showed up on my AsiaMiles account after 2 months of travelling...I submitted the form by mail and got miles for the first two so far.

It's fine, not a big deal, but I just don't want to have to submit a form every time I fly AA and want to get AsiaMiles credit...that's all. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

OK - so sounds like that's not the problem then. Is the AsiaMiles number printed correctly on the boarding cards?

no problem for getting AA credited to AM

I've never had a problem with my AA flights being credited to CX. Always updates automatically within a couple days.

Flying on South African I always have to request the missing miles but never a problem with AA.
