I have done it before at Lo Wu but it's been several years. The visa I got was only good for Shenzhen; you weren't supposed to leave Shenzhen. My agent took me out of Shenzhen and I was very nervous returning but they didn't stop and look that day.

Unless the person saying no can elaborate, I wouldn't give up yet. I vaguely remember the visa office still being in Lo Wu recently but don't bet on me.

Did that about 3 months ago without any problems. But it depends on your nationality. Citizens of some countries (including U.S.) cannot apply for the visa at the border anymore, so better check! (Not sure where, though)

i am a us citizen

i have done it at the border many times but i remember hearing that they were making some changes.

have any US citizens done a visa at the shenzen border recently?

When I was there in May, US Citizens were NOT allowed to get their Chinese Visa at the border. They had be be secured in advance.

I've gotten my visas at HKG airport same day many times, it's good for all of China as far as I know.. (my primary destination is usually Beijing).

I use the China Travel Service or something, they open at 8am, and the Visa has been available at 1.30pm. Costs about 1000 or 1600 HKD, don't remember which one.

I'm European.

I did twice visas in airport and I found CTS overcharging them comparing to their outlets downtown. Much better if time allows to, going to Tsimshatsui or even the main offices in Central, even better if you know or are directed to a travel agent, in this case prices are even lower. Delivery time is almost the same.
