Does Cathay Pacific have flights to Tahiti or is there some other option from Hong Kong?

No, CX doesn't have flights to Tahiti (or any pacific islands for that matter). The best option from Hong Kong would be flying to Auckland (AKL) then connect with the Air Tahiti Nui service to Papeete at AKL.

Air Tahiti Nui operates from AKL on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing at 14:05 while CX 107 from HKG operates daily and arrives in AKL at 11:25.

Given that LAN seats SCL-SYD are so easy to book
:rolleyes: perhaps someone should convince CX to open a flight HKG-SCL with an intermediate stop. PPT is a bit out of the way but NAN isn't too far off the great circle and given SQs interest in onward flights from Oz, perhaps MEL would be a good choice.

The truly courageous (crazy?) could also go HKG-CX-NRT-TN-PPT. :D

QF dropped SYD-EZE service and decided to codeshare with LAN for 3 flights per week SYD-SCL ... so that is what QF thought of the revenue on that route! Not sure there would be much traffic HKG-PPT given the alternatives of Thailand, Bali, etc. all of which are much cheaper and closer for those wanting a beach vacation. NRT-PPT makes a lot more sense; maybe the airlines do know a thing or two when deciding which routes to fly.
