Overhead bin size on 744 upper deck?

My wife and I will be taking our first business class trip on CX in May (award tix using AA miles). The trans-Pacific flights are on 744 metal. I've seen pictures of the upper deck overhead bins in bus. class, and they look quite small. My carryon bag is 22"x14"x11", and my wife's is probably around 22"x14"x9" or so. Will our carryon bags fit in the overhead bins on the upper deck? If they don't fit, is there anywhere else on the upper deck that they can be stored? I'd rather not store them on the main deck when we are upstairs for those long flights, so we would probably get seat assignments on the lower deck if that's the case.

We haven't selected seat assignments yet, so that is the reason I inquire about this. Don't wanna have any surprises with bin sizes after we're already on the plane! :)

Thanks for any details!

All bags on the upper deck must fit into either the sidewall compartments or the overhead lockers. The upstairs cloakroom is no longer available for passenger handcarry stowage due to "new improved safety measures" (http://www.cathaypacific.com/intl/pr...ge/0,,,00.html)

See this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...airs+cloakroom

FYI, ignore the last two postings referring to the "74B" configuration since all 747-400 aircraft in the CX fleet have now been retrofitted into either the 744 or 74J configurations with New Business Class, and therefore would have the new bins installed.

There is of course a very large storage space on the lowest level in the aircraft.. ;)

Seems to be something new among several airlines. Those travelling on NW 744s report this space has recently become offlimits too.

I'm still wondering if our standard size roller carryons will fit in the new flip up overheads? Anyone have personal experience? The cathay-usa.com website says that carryons up to 22" x 14" x 9" are permitted. Does this mean that as long as our carryon doesn't exceed this size, then they will fit in the upper deck overhead bins? Can anyone confirm with personal experience? Thanks! :)

they will fit as long as you don't overpack them.

From experience, my carry on does fit the overhead lockers in the Upper Deck.
CX and BA have upgraded their overhead locker in the upper deck (The style similar to airbus bins but slightly smaller). Whereas on QF they upgraded to the 777 overhead lockers in the upper deck and they are more spacious.

But overall on CX/BA and QF the lockers are much bigger than the old style (767 style) upper deck lockers.
